Quake Champions is a callback to the early days of the Quake IP, featuring the fast-paced action that made the IP popular over two decades ago. The game combines the lore of the original Quake with multiplayer elements found in Quake III Arena. Players play as warriors, each bearing different attributes and abilities. There are more than ten champions to choose from, giving players a wide variety of play styles to choose from. In addition, players can modify their gameplay by swapping out weapons. Fan favorites such as the Rocket Launcher and Railgun return. New weapons have been created as well. Quake Champions also includes several popular game modes: Deathmatch, 1v1 Duel, and Team Deathmatch, as well as a new team-based mode: Sacrifice.
